Milkcan Corner Farm is located on a scenic dirt road in Webster, New Hampshire.
The Milkcan Corner Farm began with a little girl's dream of owning a farm with horses! She was inspired by her grandfather who's hands were always in the dirt and always growing something. Her grandfather would tell her stories of raising rabbits, canning fresh water and struggling to grow enough food for the family during the depression days in Germany. Little did she realize what an impact it would have on her life! During the late 70's her husband, Dan and three sons (Peter, Mark & Page) lives were about to change. She decided it was time to purchase a tractor. A 52 John Deere tricycle front end tractor that her Aunt and Uncle helped her to purchase.
The name for her farm originated from a platform bench that was located at the end of the Mutton Rd. The farmer's in Webster would put their milkcans on that bench and the raw milk would then be shipped to Concord, NH for processing and bottling. The farms and the platforms are gone but hopefully the name Milkcan Corner will be remembered.

The mornings started at 6 AM in the barn on the Mutton road. Milking a few cows, feeding chickens, horses, pigs and turkeys. Other days were spent clearing the abandoned overgrown fields, plowing and picking rocks, also listening to the whining from the boys but working together to make the land productive again.
The boys are now grown but still living on the Mutton road. Their hands are dirty but they have a green thumb, hopefully passing it on to another generation.

Today, at the Milkcan Corner Farm, the season begins from June until Sept. By mid July all the lilies are in blossom. New varieties starting from early spring blossom into the late fall, fill our fields with color. The phrase "poor man's orchids" fits the flower well and you can own a real beauty for a few dollars.

New England started out with the common orange day lily called the "ditch lily" and sometimes called the "out house lily." Since then 60,000 new varieties have been developed. We only have 250 of them. Come walk through our field of lilies and pick out your favorite.
